Privacy Policy for Rupee Control (iOS)

abcoderz (“we”, “our”, or “us”) built the Rupee Control app for iOS as an
ad-supported application with an optional one-time Pro upgrade. This service is
provided at no cost and is intended for use as is.
This page informs users of our policies regarding the collection, use, and
disclosure of information for anyone who uses Rupee Control on iPhone.
Note on platforms. This policy covers the iOS app. The Android version
uses different services and is covered by its own policy.
1. Your financial data stays on your device
Rupee Control is built so that your financial records never reach us.
- Local storage only. Every transaction, income and expense entry, category
budget, debt & loan ledger (Khata) record, note, receipt image and account is
stored only on your iPhone, in the app’s private storage.
- Encrypted at rest by iOS. The database is stored with iOS Data Protection
enabled (
completeUntilFirstUserAuthentication), so the operating system
encrypts it on disk and it cannot be read while the device is locked and
powered off.
- No servers, no account, no sign-in. We operate no server for this app.
There is no account to create. Your financial data is never transmitted,
synced, backed up to us, sold, or shared. We have no technical ability to see
it.
- Optional biometric lock. You can require Face ID, Touch ID or your device
passcode to open the app. Authentication is performed by iOS; the app never
receives your biometric data.
- Khata / Ledger contacts. You may optionally record a person’s name and
phone number against a debt or loan entry. This is stored on your device only
and used solely to display the entry and, if you choose, to pre-fill a
reminder.
- WhatsApp reminders. If you tap the WhatsApp reminder action, the app opens
WhatsApp with a message already written for you. Nothing is sent unless you
send it, and the message is handled entirely by WhatsApp under its own privacy
policy.
- Calendar reminders. If you add a due-date reminder, the app requests
write-only calendar access and creates a single event. It cannot read your
calendar.
- Receipt photos. Photos you attach are stored in the app’s private storage
on your device and are never uploaded.
3. Adding expenses from bank messages
iOS does not permit any app to read your SMS messages or other apps’
notifications. Rupee Control therefore never reads them. Instead:
- Share sheet. You can share a bank SMS or UPI receipt into Rupee Control.
The text is parsed on your device to suggest an amount and merchant. It is
not uploaded anywhere.
- Clipboard detection (optional, off by default). If you turn this on, the
app checks the clipboard for a bank message when you open an entry screen.
This is entirely on-device and can be switched off at any time.
4. Advertising
Rupee Control is free and supported by advertising. Ads are provided by
Google AdMob, which may collect and use device identifiers and advertising
data to select and measure ads.
- App Tracking Transparency. On first use, iOS will ask whether you allow
the app to track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites.
If you decline, ads simply become less relevant — nothing else changes,
and it never affects your financial data, which stays on your device either
way.
- Consent in the EEA and UK. Where required, a Google-provided consent form
is shown before any ad is requested, and your choices are respected.
- Attribution. The app includes Apple’s SKAdNetwork identifiers, which let
ad attribution happen without identifying you.
- Removing ads. The one-time Rupee Control Pro purchase removes all ads
permanently and unlocks Excel and CSV export.

5. Purchases
In-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store using
StoreKit. We never see or receive your payment details. Whether you own Pro is
determined by asking the App Store, and that answer is stored only on your
device.
6. Diagnostics
The iOS version of Rupee Control includes no third-party analytics or crash
reporting SDK. We do not use Firebase, Crashlytics, or any analytics service.
If you have enabled Share iPhone Analytics in Settings → Privacy & Security
→ Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share anonymised crash reports with us
through App Store Connect. That is controlled by you in iOS Settings and
contains no financial data.
7. Backups you create
The app can export an encrypted backup file of your data. You choose where it is
saved — for example iCloud Drive or Files. Once saved, that file is under your
control and governed by wherever you put it. We never receive it.
Treat a backup file with the same care as the data inside it: anyone who obtains
the file and has the app can restore it.
8. Deleting your data
Because everything is stored on your device, you remain in complete control:
- Delete individual entries, categories, accounts or profiles from within the app.
- Deleting the app from your iPhone permanently removes all of its local
data, including receipt images.
Backup files you have exported are not affected by deleting the app; delete
those yourself from wherever you saved them.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected
in the “Last updated” date above. You are advised to review this page
periodically.
